Living In Gratitude: Celebrate Everything!
Embrace life with enthusiasm.
When we make a commitment to mindfully live in this manner, we find that there is a lot to celebrate. In fact, there is something to celebrate in everything, in every day, big, small or in between.
Little kids are overjoyed by the simplest, smallest things. It doesn’t take much to give them immeasurable joy. Splashing in a pool, playing on a sandy beach, rolling in the grass, unwrapping a gift, eating their favorite foods. The young do things with unabashed gusto. They sink their teeth into each experience and live in the moment. They celebrate everything. (Well, maybe not absolutely everything but you get the picture.)
The same goes for dogs. They are thrilled to see you each and every time you come home, love to play and snuggle, eat and even sleep with gusto. Like children, dogs embrace life with heartfelt enthusiasm.
As we grow older, wiser and more mature, we tend to become less inclined to celebrate. Rather than revel in life’s pleasures, we worry and fret, become anxious, irritated and stressed. What’s there to celebrate?, we ask ourselves. Who’s got time to wiggle their toes in the sand or lie back on the grass and gaze at the clouds scuttling past?
This mindset afflicts many, even those not far outside their youth. Life can be busy, stressful and demanding. Yet it also holds such beauty and opportunity. And there really are so many things worth celebrating.
Here are just a few ideas of things to celebrate.
- Celebrate your birthday (after all, you are worth celebrating!)
- Celebrate the change of seasons
- Celebrate your 5 senses
- Celebrate the silliness of your pet (or someone else’s)
- Celebrate the taste of your favorite food
- Celebrate the fact that you can sit, stand, kneel, lie down, hop on one foot, maybe even stand on your head!
How many other things can you think of to celebrate? Feel free to start small to begin exercising your celebration muscles. But once they get going, watch out! You’ll be ready to celebrate everything!
May your day be filled with gratitude, celebration and good things!
